Rachel Sipler

Rachel Sipler's main research interests are in biogeochemistry and phytoplankton growth dynamics. More specifically, she is interested in how dissolved organic matter (DOM) affects the initiation and continued growth of Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs). Her research will address the role of DOM in the total available nutrient pool for Aureococcus anophagefferens, Prorocentrum minimum and Karenia brevis, three major HABs plaguing the East Coast and Gulf of Mexico.
